However, when the Blues Brothers, John Belushi, and Dan Aykroyd recorded “Soul Man” with many of the same musicians in the late 1970s, it returned to the charts.
Moore was conflicted about the song being linked to the cast of “Saturday Night Live,” recalling how young people thought the Blues Brothers were the original creators.
A couple of elderly, estranged musicians who looked a lot like Sam & Dave were portrayed in the 2008 film “Soul Men.” Because of the striking likeness, Moore lost a case.
