Bacyadan posted on Instagram after the fight to express his “sad” loss but “still very thankful” for the opportunity to compete in the Olympics.
“Only experienced players can play here, and that’s a big deal to me,” he said (translated) in his post.
A huge debt of gratitude is due to everyone who helped me get here […] I am really grateful to all of my fans and supporters who have been there for me from the very beginning all the way to the Olympics.
I want to give thanks to God first and foremost since He is the one responsible. “He restored my hopes and corrected all my blunders,” Bacyadan went on to say.
I am sorry to have to disappoint everyone in the Philippines. In the future, I vow to work even harder and to fight for our nation once again.
Following the establishment of a new framework for transgender and intersex athletes, which was supposedly
“based on the respect for internationally recognised human rights,” Bacyadan made an appearance at the Olympics.
