Inna Volyanskaya, a former Soviet skater, was also apparently on board, according to TASS. She is a coach at the figure skating club in Washington.

The PSA Airlines aircraft, registered as American Airlines 5432, was scheduled to land on Runway 33 at the airport when it struck the Sikorsky H-60 military helicopter.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said that he was taking a special team to Washington, DC, to assist with the disaster inquiry.

In a statement, he said: “I am aware that there are a lot of questions. I’ll be unable to respond to all of them at this early point, but I do want to share what I currently know.”

“The American Airlines care team has been activated to assist our passengers and their families, and we are actively working with local, state, and federal authorities on emergency response.
