While continuing to play roles in independent, original works such as Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine.

At the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, his last role as Steve Rogers, his character was deputized with the duty of transporting the Infinity Stones back to their previous realities.

The character chooses to stay with his former love, Peggy Carter, in the past even though he is meant to return to the present.

Therefore, an elderly Captain America would not be the best choice for Evans’ significant comeback, presuming Avengers: Doomsday is set in the present.
