The deal comes after other large digital companies were accused of abusing customers’ privacy and agreed to pay comparable settlement amounts.
Following allegations of privacy infringement involving its Ring doorbell cameras and Alexa digital assistant, Amazon agreed to pay $30 million to the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2023.
The same legal firms who represented the plaintiffs in the Apple case are now presently involved in another litigation on behalf of Google Voice Assistant customers in a federal court in San Jose, California.
