Despite the Supreme Court’s immunity judgment, a New York court affirms Trump’s hush money conviction.

 

In a separate move, Trump has requested that Judge Juan Merchan dismiss the whole criminal case in New York because of his electoral win in November. On Monday, Merchan did not decide on the issue.

Merchan’s decision supported the Manhattan district attorney’s office prosecutors, who argued that while the U.S.

Supreme Court gave presidents broad immunity for presidential duties, Trump’s convictions were for unofficial, not official, behavior.

Trump was found guilty of “decidedly personal acts” in his 41-page finding, including manipulating company documents.

That presented “no danger of intrusion on the authority and function of the Executive Branch,” which includes Trump’s actions as president.

Merchan came to the conclusion that among those “unofficial” acts were Trump’s attempts to fabricate documents pertaining to payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels,
