Elon Musk’s Tesla is against a vehicle crash rule that Donald Trump’s transition team wants to remove.

 

Musk advocated for “a federal approval process for autonomous vehicles” on a Tesla earnings call in October, as opposed to a patchwork of state rules that he described as “incredibly painful” to comply with.

He said that he would advocate for such regulatory reforms using his position as government-efficiency czar, which Trump had promised him.

Musk was appointed by Trump to co-lead a newly established Department of Government Efficiency to provide “outside government” advice on cutting federal employees, expenditure, and regulations after the election.
