Elon Musk’s Tesla is against a vehicle crash rule that Donald Trump’s transition team wants to remove.

Because various firms gather collision data in different methods, NHTSA warns that the data should not be used to compare the safety of one manufacturer with that of another.

According to Bryant Walker Smith, a law professor at the University of South Carolina who specializes in autonomous driving, Tesla likely discloses.

A “far greater proportion of their incidents” than other manufacturers and gathers real-time collision data that other businesses do not.

Smith said that because Tesla has more cars on the road with driver-assistance technology and users use them more often, the company probably experiences more collisions using these devices.

According to him, this implies that the cars could encounter “situations that they aren’t capable of handling” more often.
