Judy Garland’s “Wizard of Oz” Ruby Slippers Bring a Record $32.5 Million at Auction

“No other piece of Hollywood memorabilia can compare to Judy Garland’s ruby slippers,” Maddalena said in a news statement.

The stunning outcome demonstrates the significance of movies and movie memorabilia to both collectors and our society.

Being a part of the slippers’ incredible journey over the rainbow and to their new home has been an honor for all of us at Heritage.

The FBI found the record-breaking ruby slippers 13 years after they were infamously taken from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids,

Minnesota, in the summer of 2005. Before giving them to Heritage for inclusion in the December 7 Heritage’s Hollywood/Entertainment Signature Auction,

Which attracted more than 1,800 bids worldwide, they were returned to their owner, Michael Shaw, earlier this year.
