Apparently responding to the viral video, he said, “I’m just glad I can make people smile and laugh.” Perhaps this is the beginning of something really remarkable!

People were making fun of the sad incident, saying things like, “Stiff competition.. got everyone nervous these games” and, “he was a few inches short…. or a few inches long.”

“Loses vault,” some said. The internet is victorious, and: “I believe it’s more impressive than receiving a medal, haha.”

The comment section was divided: “when you lose but you still win” and “I’m not sure if we should feel bad for him or proud for him!” Lol.”

His social media following increased from about 5,000 on Saturday morning to 50,000 the next day, and as of this writing,

121,000 on Instagram. Although he did not earn a medal this time, the viral event certainly helped him get more fans.
