Canadian CrossFit competitor Cole Learn was spectating from the sidelines when he saw Dukic falter, according to WFAA, an ABC station in Dallas.
I saw that he began to fumble about. Learn informed the station that he began doing little spins while attempting to get his head above water.
“It was at that time we started screaming to the lifeguard, like, he needs help, and within seconds he was under and he never came back up.”
According to what Learn told WFAA, a lifeguard swam up to the spot where Dukic fell under and then paddled back.
Several platforms were livestreaming the swimming part of the event until Thursday morning, when it suddenly stopped, according to WFAA. The event’s livestream has been removed from CrossFit Games’ platforms.
