Democrat Gov. Tim Walz and Republican Sen. JD Vance, the leading candidates for vice president in their respective parties, have diametrically opposed views on several topics, and their financial situations couldn’t be more different.

Walz, a former educator and current congressman, has a pension account as his principal asset, earns around $127,000 a year in salary, and does not own any stocks, according to financial filings.

Based on his salary, book royalties, and investment income, Vance, a former venture capitalist, earned around $221,000 in 2022, according to a financial report filed with the U.S.

Senate. According to his financial statement, he also had a substantial amount of cash stashed away in brokerage accounts and a number of stakes in businesses.
