Loudermilk said in his January letter that during the hearing it was claimed that former president Donald Trump rushed at another US Secret Service personnel and tried to grasp the steering wheel of the vehicle. You went on to say that,
without your lawyer’s knowledge, you coordinated the third interview with the Select Committee on May 17th by speaking with [Trump spokesperson] Alyssa Farah Griffin. Regardless, you omitted this riveting sequence of events from the interview on May 17th.
The fact that Hutchinson reiterated the event and Ornato said he did not recall it is even more shocking. The OIG report states that he said,
“I do not recall being made aware of any details about the President’s return trip to the White House and, as such, I do not recall speaking with anyone about it.” in reference to this matter.
Ornato “described [Trump] as being irate,” according to Hutchinson’s testimony. “I am the f-ing president,” the Trump reportedly said. Now, please, lead me to the Capitol.
The presumptuous character of the accusation against President Trump was further enhanced by the widespread coverage of Hutchinson’s testimony in major media sources.
