French restaurant accused of “denying access” to Serena Williams and her family

 

In response to Williams’ assertions, the Peninsula Paris Twitter account wrote: “Dear Mrs. Williams, For the letdown you experienced before, please accept our sincerest apologies.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but our rooftop bar was completely booked. The only tables that were available to you belonged to our gourmet restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, and they were all reserved.

“We have always been honored to welcome you and will always be to welcome you again,” said the group.

Since then, a spokesperson for the Peninsula Paris has spoken with UNILAD, stating that they hold Williams in the highest regard and that they “reiterate [their] deepest apologies for her perception of tonight’s situation.”

Their whole statement is as follows: “Tonight, August 5th, our rooftop bar was indeed completely booked, and the only tables that were available belonged to our gourmet restaurant,
