In October of last year. Since off-campus scouting is prohibited under NCAA regulations, an NCAA inquiry has been launched.
The risk of an NCAA inquiry was increased by the fact that Michigan was already being investigated for recruiting offenses under Harbaugh.

It is certain that Michigan will strive to avoid severe punishments. However, they acknowledged that there was unlawful off-campus scouting.
The school admits in its statement that certain recruitment breaches and some illegal in-person scouting seem to have taken place, “though less than the (NCAA) claims.”
It claims that all of the misconduct will be discussed in the hearing of the Committee on Infractions and that committee members.
